Pathetically, no. We are doomed to more of the shrill drones Gillard - and seeking solace that this visage may be an impossible contradiction in terms.

They are all self - serving politicians who see no merit in perhaps being treated more generously by history; indeed they have no sense of history. Or of the minor merit of  being able to salvage what remains of their collective decrepitudenous  reputations.

They contemplate not their grandchildren plaintively asking what they did when the opportunity to cross the floor begged.

Vale the 74 true believers: yours were the delusions of socialist tripe: history will be merciless because you created the worst of all scenarios - even your traditional supporters are holding baseball bats.
