Egypt retrieves smuggled antiquities from Spain’s Barcelona Museum
CAIRO: According to Egypt’s State Information Service, Spain’s Barcelona Museum returned eight Pharaonic antiquities that were smuggled from Egypt in 1999.
The priceless artifacts were returned to the Egyptian embassy in Madrid on Wednesday.
Egypt’s Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mohamed Ibrahim, attended the event, which occurred at the Egyptian embassy in Madrid.
The purloined items are due to return to Egypt on March 29.
