NEW EUPHEMISMS FOR ISLAMIC MURDERERS!

Jihad dangers

IZZAT Abdulhadi wrongly asserts that 308 of the 1550 Palestinian hunger strikers are being held in administrative detention ("Israeli system ignores hunger from freedom", 15/5). Only six of them are.
There are 308 Palestinian administrative detainees in the Palestinian prison population, not just the hunger strikers, a fraction of the total. The rest have been charged and tried.
Abdulhadi also omits to mention that the two prisoners whose plight he bewails, Bilal Thiab and Taher Halahleh, are Islamic Jihad operatives. In a review of allegations against Halahleh in March, the military judge concluded: "In his numerous substantial activities ... there is a clear and present danger to regional security. Not only that, there is proof that points to his continued activity after his arrest and detention. Because of the inherent danger posed by the detainee, I believe that the duration of the order is reasonable and proportional."

Baseless line on Israel

LAST year, Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit was released by Hamas after being held hostage for five years. In exchange, Israel released more than 1000 Palestinian prisoners.
On release, Shalit was frail and malnourished. Conversely, the Palestinians were in good health.
Therefore, Izzat Abdulhadi's claim that Palestinians detained in Israeli jails "are forced to endure conditions that would be expected in a Third World country" is incongruous and seemingly baseless ("System ignores hunger for freedom", 15/5).

NEW EUPHEMISMS FOR ISLAMIC
 MURDERERS!

Muslims /  Palestinian  terrorists years ago murdered Jews via hijacked aeroplanes, graduated
to throwing lethal rocks and kidnappings - then suicide - murder of women and children was
the continuum of their modus operandi.
18899 acts of terror since S11!

Izzat Abdulahhadi seeks to distort mass - murder re the latest: ostensively passivist Ghandi

type / ''hunger - for - freedom'' strikes techniques now used by Palestinian prisoners.

What an sickening - dichotomy.

Israeli system ignores hunger for freedom The Australian 15/5 So much for

The Australian not allowing inflamatory headlines!

Can  Abdulhadi justify the 18,889 deadly terror attacks by Islamic terrorists vs merely a
handful of school attacks by non - Muslims?
Look at the outrageous spin he uses to whitewash members of Hamas as:
''The most common offence and the offence under which Thiab and Halahleh are held is membership
of a group, one of whose members has intentionally caused death. A serious charge; however, Israel deems Palestinian groups to be collectively guilty on the basis of secret information.''

Abdulah distorts in so many ways. The prisoners face charges and the Palestinian
ambassador uses euphemisms for the murder of children in pizza parlors which  ''... intentionally caused death.''
Which he begrudgingly admits is ''a serious charge..''

The ''collective - guilt'' myth is plainly another distortion that reads well until the truth is sought!
This is the way of outrageous propaganda outdoing anything the totalitarian Communists tried under uncle Joe Stalin or Mao.
Sadly it would take 20,000 words to debunk the article - and Izzat Abdulahdi knows it.

John Lyons again!

Saturday, The Australian May 5, 2012:

Living under the cloud of Israel's cruel apartheid

John Lyons as the Middle East Correspondent for The Australian probably would not survive in the Palestinian territories if he lodged factual, contextually - reasonable reports.
But that is no excuse for his regular, many lacerating eviscerations of Israel.

And furthermore, just as an honourable reporter would not accept the job - nor should  The Australian's editor offer the gig to anyone if it invariably necessitates compromising basic journalistic standards.

But I reckon Lyon's  reports are not forced on him:  they are surely heartfelt, warm - inner - glow fantasies:  he regularly writes like this.
His modus vivendi is to intermittently write appropriately - so he can make a mealy - mouthed sine qua non type excuse for his ditribes lambasting the Middle East's only democracy!

His predecessors eg  Martin Chulov was no better.
In 2006 Chulov plainly refused to back away from his lies about that infamous  Red Cross ambulance allegedly attacked by an Israeli missile!
I wrote in vain to The Australian.

They never apologise: continue ad nausium, offer repeats ad  infinitum and perhaps will tell bedtime stories to their grandchildren about their anti - Israel exploits.

Shame on them.
Shame on the Australian for facilitating this travesty.
I wonder whether Mr Rupert Murdoch created the Australian as a vehicle for the anti  - Israel rantings of lousy journalists.

Dear Mr Magar SHOULD BE SEIDNER!!!

The publication of an inaccurate and misleading headline on page 13 of The Weekend Australian, "Living under
the cloud of Israel's cruel apartheid" is a matter of deep regret. The headline was a reference to a contentious
view expressed by a person interviewed in the article, and should not have been read as a statement of fact.
The Australian rejects any comparison between Israel’s democratic, open and secular civil society and the
abhorrent, discriminatory system of government that prevailed in South Africa until 1994.

The Australian has a clear policy of distinguishing fact from opinion, but in this case a poor headline, written
against the pressure of deadlines, has let our readers down. We are conducting a review of our production
process to ensure that such a serious lapse of editorial standards does not occur again. I will be reminding
staff that particular care should be taken in the use of words that are capable of causing offence.

I would like to assure you that The Australian's editorial position towards Israel remains unchanged.

Kind regards

News for Israeli system ignores hunger for freedom

  1. System ignores hunger for freedom

    The Australian‎ - 10 hours ago
System ignores hunger for freedom ... in Israeli jails, including women and minors, are hunger-striking, with most refusing food since April 17.
    ##############################################################################################################################################

    System ignores hunger for freedom

IT is difficult to understand the reasons why a person who is unconscious and dying would need to be shackled to their bed.

It's particularly difficult to understand the need for shackles when the person who is unconscious is dying due to refusing food since February 28, in non-violent protest against their imprisonment without charge or trial. Bilal Thiab and Thaer Halahleh slip in and out of consciousness as they lie dying after being held without charge, evidence or trial since last year.

Hunger-striking for 77 days in peaceful protest, it's difficult not to conclude that shackles are a final humiliation and the last chance to inflict indignity on a person whose only desire is to live a free and dignified life.

Along with Thiab and Halahleh, 1550 Palestinians held in Israeli jails, including women and minors, are hunger-striking, with most refusing food since April 17. According to B'tselem, the Israeli human rights organisation, 308 of these are held under administrative detention identical to Thiab and Halahleh, in which a person is imprisoned without charge, evidence, legal representation or trial, for six-month rolling periods and no limit on renewal

Until recently, the longest-serving administrative detainee had been held for 20 years without legal process. The two current longest-serving administrative detainees have been imprisoned for 4 1/2 years without legal process.

Starting a mass hunger-strike on April 17, 1550 Palestinian prisoners are demanding an end to the subhuman conditions forced on them in Israeli jails and an end to the use of administrative detention and imprisonment as a tool of mass fear and cruelty.

The keystone of Israel's regime of imprisonment is administrative detention, currently justified under Military Order 1951 and supported

    by Israeli legislation.

Under international law, administrative detention or imprisonment without legal process is permissible, but only in exceptional circumstances and as a short-term measure where an immediate danger cannot be prevented by any other means.

Under Israel's military orders and legislation, the burden of proof rests with the detainee to show that detention is not improper. But the legal authority - a military tribunal - is not required to make known the grounds under which a detainee is held. Rules of evidence can be - and are - varied at the discretion of the tribunal head, and court records are secret. With no evidence, no lawyer and no court, a detainee can never know why he or she is detained.

Once detained, imprisonment stretches into the future without limit, renewed at six-month intervals and at the absolute discretion of the appointed military officer.

All of the 4635 Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli jails are forced to endure conditions that would be expected in a Third World country. Prisoners are routinely denied medical treatment for chronic conditions as serious as kidney disease. Food is inadequate and canteen access is severely limited. Since last year, reading material has been limited or denied as a cost-saving measure. Torture is legally permitted and practised under the title "moderate physical pressure".

Extended solitary confinement is routine. The longest-serving prisoner in solitary confinement was released last week after 10 years. Adding to the punishment, prisoners are held for extended periods in isolation cells measuring 180cm by 150cm and containing one water jug and one toileting container. Families are denied the right to visit through Israel's refusal to issue visiting and travel permits. The families of prisoners from Gaza have not seen their loved ones since 2007.

The direness of Israel's regime of imprisonment would want to mirror the seriousness of the offences. Governed through a system of five categories of offences, these include specific offences such as insulting a soldier or attacking his honour and status as a soldier or throwing any object, including a stone, at a person or property. Both of these offences carry sentences of up to 10 years' imprisonment.

The most common offence and the offence under which Thiab and Halahleh are held is membership of a group, one of whose members has intentionally caused death. A serious charge; however, Israel deems Palestinian groups to be collectively guilty on the basis of secret information. A person associated with such a group - usually a political party - is deemed to be necessarily and equally guilty. The person, and it must be remembered Israel applies these orders to Palestinians only, is held without charge or evidence, denied legal representation and a trial.
Hilary Clinton has been asked to intervene. Tony Blair has urged Israel to act and prevent a tragedy that might have "serious implications for security and stability on the ground".
The tragedy has already occurred. Living under the profound insecurity of Israeli military rule, 276 Palestinians are arrested every month and subjected to a pseudo-legal system that achieves a 99.7 per cent conviction rate. Since 1967, more than 600,000 Palestinian men have been imprisoned in Israeli jails, a staggering 40 per cent of the male population.
Thiab and Halahleh have peacefully withdrawn all recognition of the system that denies their humanity and holds them captive. And for this the final indignity is inflicted: to be dying for freedom and yet to be shackled until life and the possibility of freedom is no more.
Izzat Abdulhadi is ambassador and head of the General Delegation of Palestine to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific
